Kranich Family Rewards Witness To Theft

A State College resident will be rewarded by the Kranich family for alerting borough police to the July 22 robbery he witnessed of Kranich’s Jewelers on E. College Avenue. Charles Kranich, vice president of the three Kranich’s jewelry stores, said he and his family are presenting the witness with a Tag Heuer watch to show their appreciation. “We want to express our gratitude to this young man for doing the right thing. Through his efforts, the police were able to get the almost $9,000 worth of stolen watches back”, he said. “This kind of citizen involvement should not go unrecognized.”

The witness, who does not want to be identified, saw the suspect smash the window of Kranich’s downtown store and remove the watches. The witness followed the suspect to his apartment and then alerted a police officer to the theft. The stolen watches were recovered and the suspect was arrested.
