Kranich Family Gives Gift of Time To Downtown

The Michael Kranich family, owners and operators of four jewelry stores in the region, have given the “gift of time” to downtown State College.  Kranich’s have purchased an eleven-and-a-half foot high antique style clock and have had it installed on the two hundred block of East College Avenue, between Kranich’s Jewelers and the Tavern Restaurant.

“Now, all passersby will know at a glance what time it is”, said Charles Kranich, manager of the two Kranich’s Jewelry stores in State College.  “We realized that this busy thoroughfare had no public clock, and so we set out to find one that fits in with our small town charm and vibrant business district. We wanted a clock that complements the look of the new public benches and the existing streetscape, and I believe we’ve accomplished that.”

The two-sided face of the imported classically designed cast iron clock is two feet in diameter. The Kranich family will bear the responsibility for the maintenance of the electric clock.
