Looking for the Perfect Ring? Shop Verragio

Here at Kranich’s Jewelers, we are committed to providing couples with both classic and unique engagement rings. By seeking out the most innovative jewelry lines by some of the most well-respected jewelry designers in the industry, our team is able to find engagement rings as timeless and as special as the love you share with your partner.

While some designers offer multiple jewelry selections, others specialize solely in wedding and engagement rings – such as our line of rings by the revered Barry Verragio. We are proud to offer this globally celebrated line in our store, and are excited about the endless options for personalizing each ring to perfection in your eyes.

Barry Verragio

Barry Verragio is an expert in his field, and one of the most innovative fine jewelry designers in the world. He began his career as a jeweler, whose passion for the artistry of jewelry led him to the esteemed Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. It was there that he fell in love with the elegance of ring design. Now, with over 25 years of designing some of the most unique wedding and engagement rings in the world, you can rest assured that a Verragio ring is a ring she will love.

Inspired By the Beauty of Women

Each and every ring in his ever-evolving collection is inspired by the undeniable and often effortless beauty of women. Everything from his unique shapes, layered approach, innovative design elements – to his multiple options for personalizing each ring for the bride to be – is designed to be elegant, classic, sophisticated and beautiful. He never designs a ring for the sake of designing a ring, and goes back to the drawing board if a design is not as unique as the bridge he envisions; the beautiful woman whose finger it will be gracing.

A Layered Approach to Engagement Ring Design

A Verragio ring is designed with multiple layers. While the layers of each ring, or each of his current collection of rings, is unique, each layer can be personalized so that the bride can truly experience the brand’s motto to “make it yours.” The current five collections are the Parisian, Venetian, Insignia, Classic and Couture. Each layer of the ring can be personalized to allow the bride to express her personal sense of style.

While most rings are designed with only one precious metal, Verragio engagement rings are unique because each layer can be made with a combination of White Gold, Rose Gold, Yellow Gold or Platinum. In other words, the design of the band is highlighted by contrasting metals. The combination of metals allows you to create a ring with endless possibilities, and that doesn’t even include the options in diamonds and gemstones.

No need to worry about what the custom design will look like, as your jeweler has the ability to allow you to see how each layer varies with varying combinations of precious metals. Keep mixing and matching until it is just right. The most common layers of a Verragio ring include:
• Halo
• Tiara
• Lace
• Beading
• Shank

Not every ring has each of these layers – and don’t worry about understanding what each layer means. Your trusted Kranich’s jeweler will walk you through all of the distinct differences that make your engagement ring special.

The Engagement Ring Band is an Essential Part of the Design

Verragio engagement ring bands differ from most. While most designers offer an intricate setting with a plain band, Verragio dazzles with both the band and the setting. Not only is every wedding ring and engagement band designed in multiple precious metals, but each band is designed to be stunning from every angle. While most bands are fairly simple, a Verragio band is a full-circle design. It looks beautiful from the top, either side and even from the bottom of the ring when your hand is facing up.

Since the gemstones and intricate 360-degree design encompasses the entire band, the rings can be resized up to 1 ½ sizes with Verragio’s patented sizing system – without ever being cut.

We Must Not Forget the Diamond

What would a wedding or engagement ring be without a stunning diamond? As if the endless options in the wedding band aren’t enough, you still need to consider the diamond. Each Verragio ring features a focal gemstone in one of the classic cuts – round, square, oval, princess or pear. While the setting is predetermined, you can, of course, choose from varying quality and colors of diamonds. Study up on the 4 C’s before you begin shopping, so that you can truly understand the differences in Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight.

Should You Bring Your Bride-to-Be Ring Shopping?

Verragio rings are for unique brides, or fiancés who desire something unique for their bride-to-be. While a more standard design has enough options to choose from, the endless options in Verragio rings can make shopping feel a bit overwhelming. Since each ring is a custom design, and therefore does not qualify for a standard refund or exchange, it might be best to ensure your bride has a bit of input – but the choice is of course always up to you. You could even bring her browsing one day to simply gauge a few of her likes and dislikes.

Your wedding ring is a symbol of your lasting love, so selecting the perfect ring is a must. Rings are also a significant investment, so you want to invest time and attention in designing a ring that your bride will cherish for years to come. We know there are a lot of important decisions to make when shopping for the perfect ring, which is why Kranich’s Jewelers is committed to making the process as fun, exciting and easy as possible.

The Things Nobody Tells You About Engagement Ring Shopping

While your love cannot be defined by a material object, engagement rings and wedding rings sets symbolize your commitment and eternal love. Shopping for the perfect ring requires much thought and consideration, and often takes more than one trip to the jewelry store. To speed up the process, and reduce your level of stress – turn to the tips below.

Determine Your Budget

An excellent place to start is by determining your budget. Your wedding ring is an investment, in both finances and your partnership. Engagement rings are available for all budgets, but the average ring costs 2 to 3 months’ salary. Financing is available in most jewelry stores, but you may want to save up – or set aside your next bonus check to ensure you have a nice down payment.

Determine Her Ring Size

Determining her ring size is a bit trickier than you might think. Pay attention to the rings she wears on a daily basis, and to which one she wears on her left hand ring finger. Try to sneak one of her rings away for a few hours while you head to jewelry store to determine sizing.

Ask for Help Determining Her Style

While you are sneaking a peak in her jewelry box, snap a few pics so that you can get a better idea of her style – but remember that diamond engagement rings are often more formal than everyday rings. Your best bet is to reach out to a friend or family member who knows how to keep your impending proposal a secret. If you are lucky, she has already discussed her ring dreams with one of her friends.

Learn the Basics of Diamond Shopping

Expect to be overwhelmed by your options, but ease your stress by learning a few basics before you head to the jewelry store. For starters, learn a bit more about the 4 C’s:
• Cut – what shape diamond does she want, and how many diamonds total?
• Color – white diamonds aren’t the only option, in fact diamonds come in every color of the rainbow
• Carat Weight – carat weight is directly related to the size of the primary diamond, if you have multiple diamonds you will have an overall carat weight and an individual carat weight
• Clarity – clarity refers to how “perfect” the gemstone is under magnification. Even if the inclusions aren’t visible, she may prefer a rare beauty.

While this may seem self-explanatory, the varying options in each of the 4 C’s will drastically affect the cost of the ring.

Consider Other Gemstones

While diamonds are available in all colors of the rainbow, a diamond engagement ring is not your only option. Consider rubies, emeralds, and sapphires– either as complementary gems or as the centerpiece. Depending on your bride’s sense of style, you could forgo diamonds altogether.

She Will Need a Wedding Band Too

While the engagement ring is your top priority, you will also have to select a wedding band. Some rings are sold in sets, some can be mixed and matched – and all options can be fully customized. Weigh the pros and cons of a plain wedding band so that you can invest more in the engagement ring, but also consider the stylistic benefits of a complementary design.

Know Your Precious Metals

While the diamond, design and setting is certainly top of mind – don’t forget to consider the precious metal the band and setting is made from. The most popular choices are:
• Gold
• White Gold
• Rose Gold
• Platinum

Don’t Forget You

Many couples opt to have a common theme in their rings, at the very least having the same precious metal. That being said, since many men wear little to no jewelry, there is often a bit of flexibility when it comes to selecting the wedding band you will wear. Also determine how much you want to spend on your wedding ring.

Think Ahead

While your current focus is on getting an initial “yes,” also think ahead a bit to whether or not you plan to give the gift of jewelry for anniversaries. A popular trend is to invest in additional bands to celebrate milestone anniversaries. While you certainly wait to select those upgrades, consider if the current ring is easily complimented.

Select a Trusted Jeweler

There is a reason that Kranich’s Jewelers has been in business since 1903 – it’s because we are a trusted Pennsylvania jeweler. While it might be tempting to go with a less-known or even an online-only jeweler, you want to protect your financial investment by selecting a jeweler who you can trust to be honest about cost, quality, service and ongoing needs.

Take Your Time

Shopping may not be your favorite pastime, but don’t feel obligation or pressure to find the perfect ring on the first try. If you are lucky, a ring will capture your attention and simply feel right from the second you lay eyes on it – but you may need some time to think it over. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to get it right before you plan your proposal.

Understand Your Jewelers Return & Exchange Policy

Just in case you don’t get it right, you need to know that you can return or exchange the ring you purchase. At Kranich’s, we want both you and your bride-to-be to be happy, which is why we offer a 30-day return policy on all of our in-stock jewelry – restrictions apply for special and custom orders.

Resembling a teardrop, this diamond is a hybrid between the marquise cut and the round brilliant.  Worn with the tip pointed towards the nail, the pear diamond can create the illusion of a long, slim finger.  Highly popular during the Renaissance period, the pear diamond displays sparkle from every angle with its 58 facets.

Oval Diamond Shape:

The Oval shaped diamond is based on the traditional design of the round brilliant.  With its 56 facets, this diamond is full of brilliance and passion. Oval diamonds are very popular as their length can emphasize long, lean fingers.

Heart Diamond Shape:

Also known as the most romantic diamond shape, the heart is the ultimate symbol of love. The heart shaped diamond is a brilliant cut and requires symmetrical lobes to form the heart shape.  It is basically a pear shape diamond with a cleft at the top.  Consisting of 59 facets, it sparkles with effortless elegance.

Asscher Diamond Shape:

Created in 1902 by the Asscher Brothers of Holland, the asscher diamond was designed to draw the eye into the diamond.  It is a square step cut that displays deeply cut corners that gives it an octagonal outline. Although the asscher cut may not be a popular traditional choice, it is still very fashionable and has gained recognition when it was featured on the show, “Sex and The City.”  With its 72 step facets, the asscher diamond is sure to glow with brilliance.

Cushion Diamond Shape:

If you are looking for an engagement ring with an antique look, the cushion diamond is perfect for you.  This classic cut has been radiating beauty for almost 200 years.  Also known as the pillow cut or the candlelight diamond, this square shaped diamond features larger than normal facets.  The cushion cut is a current engagement ring trend worn by many women.
